Monarch Butterfly Cycle by RedFieldsOfNone Monarch Butterfly Cycle by RedFieldsOfNone
This is the first gift I made through :iconartcrossing: for the ever talented :iconpepper-dragon:!

A special thanks :icon0horizon: for being my awesome model. She's also an awesome artist!

The profile I got said she liked both graffiti and monarch butterflies. Right away I decided to use spray paint and stencils to make t-shirt graphics. I made 5 shirts depicting the life cycle of the monarch, 2 for the caterpillars, 1 for the cocoon (or is it a chrysalis!?), and 2 for the butterfly. There is overspray and blotches but I kind of like it. I want to make a caterpillar one for myself, but the stencils were pretty much trashed by the end of the project.

The best way to show how beautiful is our private nature and how far we are from it

La mejor manera de demostrar que tan bello es nuesta naturaleza y lo alejados que estamos de ella

Whoa, I was marveling at how totally awesome this was, and then I was about to start writing my comment and saw that it was YOU replying to the comments, and was like, "HOLD THE PHONE, REDFIELDSOFNONE MADE THIS?!?!!"

Dude, AWESOME work. This is one of the best gifts I've ever seen in Artcrossing! I love the colors you chose for the shirts, and the sequence looks awesome. You could have a catepillar week every now and then, wearing each one for each day of the week and thereby showing the metamorphosis! Or if you were feeling like it was a chrysalis sort of day, you could wear that one, but if you felt like an emerging butterfly, you could wear it! Ah, so many options. REALLY great idea, and REALLY well done.

So so so cool. I hope this motivates more people to put sizes into their profile. I always have a few t-shirt related ideas for my gifts, but never a size :D
My fav tshirt is the single butterfly one. I love the placement :D

I never thought of spray paint. I didn't think it would last on the tshirts. I've been using bleach to do some christmas presents recently, that's pretty fun.

Hopefully it lasts and isn't too stiff where the spray paint is. About 5 years ago, I bought a shirt at a concert made the same way, and it has a faded after many wearings. So fingers crossed that her gift will last many years to come!
