This Is Math

Description

I decided to splurge $ 4 on Joey Comeau’s The Girl Who Couldn’t Come , a small collection of dirty short stories.
Amanda B. Hamilton’s review on Amazon.com describes the book to a T, for all of those curious. [link]

I drew a scene from the story This Is Math . I am bad at math. I should not have been mesmerized by the Women in the story writing math equations up and down her legs for the accountant to solve; however, I know the feeling after painstakingly cancelling out needless parts or taking elements from one side and putting them on another, balancing and simplifying, balancing and simplifying, until the equation is solved. The feeling is similar to getting struck by inspiration, to delight, to arousal. Like when a fellow artist stuns me with idea I never thought before. Like when a main squeeze wakes up early to make breakfast.

The image of each symbol drawn on her thighs done with confidence and care was so dizzyingly beautiful I had to draw it. I am missing the solved equations on her chest and I think it was a coffee table not a counter, but this is what I saw. This is math.
